If you want to improve your credit score, follow these helpful tips:

Pay your bills on time. Even though you may have slipped
in the past, don’t be late in the future (starting now). More
recent late payments are often more damaging to your credit
       than older ones.
Clean up any collection accounts. Make sure that all
collections are cleared and listed as paid. Also, clear any
tax liens or other damaging items.
Don’t max out every credit card. Credit scores consider
the overall amount of credit you have available relative to
       the amounts you owe.
Clean up any credit cards which have been cancelled for
more than five years. You should keep the number of your
credit cards to four or five max.

By taking time now to clean up your credit report it will allow you
to put your best score forward. It will save you the hidden cost
caused by items in your credit report which lower your credit score.
